Ready for Transmission?

THIS. NIGHT.  It was a trip of a lifetime! A nine-day international excursion with one of my fellow star chasers and our favorite friend and night photo teacher. We ventured to the northwest coast of Iceland with @NationalParksAtNight. We wondered at the snow globe weather all week, experiencing basalt sea stacks, dipping in numerous hot springs, capturing raging waterfalls and geothermal pools, hiking an ancient volcanic crater all while managing expectations for an Icelandic aurora chase. And finally on the last night, it was clear!

It was a beautiful dark moon night. But traveling at the 65^th parallel (Chicago is the 42nd parallel) in mid-April meant the days were getting longer by leaps and bounds. This night, there was no longer any total darkness or true ‘night’. We had ‘astronomical twilight’ for less than 4 hours, from 11:40PM until 3:20AM local time. So, after a full day of whale and puffin watching and a scrumptious fresh seafood dinner, we waited……..and then……the skies exploded! We embraced it all and caught some other-worldly energy and light!

And that is the feeling of Sagittarius. The gypsy, the long-distance traveler, finding deeper meaning from experiences, feeling other cultures and ways of living, full of adventure, freedom, positivity and truth!

This very special Sagittarian new moon is exact on Friday, December 19^th at 7:43PM CT at 28’ of this fire sign. Also known as the dark moon, it is full of expansive truths and amplified by sitting on top of the galactic center (astronomically, the rotational core of the Milky Way galaxy). Mystically, this galactic center is associated with transmissions of higher knowledge and revelations.

This auspicious new moon is squared (tension) to Neptune conjunct Saturn in late degree Pisces (making the dream real). In astrology, these late degrees are considered a critical point of completion. And in Pisces, it’s the end of a major cycle. For Neptune (spiritual inspiration), it has been 165 years since this planet has been at this place in the zodiac. – So, can we do it? Be inspired to make our dreams real? It can swing many ways, so what are you dreaming about? Is it expansive and informed by these broader truths?

We’ve watched our old systems (Saturn in Pisces) crumble day after day (end of a cycle). But clearing out the old makes room for new perspectives and ways of being (Both Saturn and Neptune will bust into Aries for good in early 2026).

So, what are your new moon wishes, dreams and intentions? Can you lean into this opportunity to reflect on the deeper truths you have found in all this turmoil? What do you understand now that you did not understand at this time last year? Five years ago? Has it opened your mind and maybe your heart? Maybe feeling humbly wiser or quite fired up? All are acceptable feelings (the moon), as long as there is evolution.

Uranus at the same degree in Taurus joins to party to give this a revolutionary feeling. And the Winter Solstice 2 days later, lends itself to the reflective energy of this moment.
