Inspiration and upliftment can be found by studying many of the great yogic texts.
One of these great yogic texts is the Yoga Sutras. You may have heard of this term, but what is this really?
Sutra means thread. And in the writing of the Yoga Sutras, the
great sage, Patanjali, weaves the ageless wisdom of yoga into a beautiful tapestry to be used forever by anyone who desire
its guidance while on this earth plane. The entire writing (believed to have been written over 2000 years ago) is comprised
of 196 clear and succinct thoughts and phrases. There are 4 main chapters, themes or padas in the Yoga Sutras:
Samadi Pada - Book on Concentration
Sadhana
Pada - Book on Study
Vibhuti Pada - Powers
Kaivalya Pada - Freedom or Liberation
The wisdom that will be shared here in the coming months is based on the translation of the Yoga
Sutras written by B.K.S. Iyengar, "Light on the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali". We will do a short study and contemplation (tarka) each month. Come join us online or in class.
