About Us And Our Philosophy

Yoga has become a very popular form of exercise in the United States, but there are still many myths that exist about
it. Some think extreme flexibility or strength is required. But one of the maxims of yoga that
we teach by is: "start where you are." We aim to provide an experience of yoga that resonates individually
with each student. As such, we provide clear instructions customized to the needs and abilities of each student.
Our philosophy at Yoga from the Beginning is to make yoga available to all people, regardless of fitness
level or ability. While many people come to yoga as a means to reduce stress or as a mechanism to stay fit, yoga is a practice
of mind as much as it is a physical practice. We provide a brief introduction to the philosophy of yoga in each class,
in order to deepen the benefit which can be achieved through the practice of yoga.
Meg Barber is founder of Yoga From the Beginning, LLC. She is a members of The Yoga Alliance. This industry
group approves yoga teacher training programs throughout the United States and registers teachers who have completed
the appropriate course of study. To see Yoga Alliance guidelines,

What Others are Saying...
Mainly, though, we want to have fun. We love yoga and our goal is to share that experience with our students.
"... It
took me a long to get up the nerve to come. I was afraid that I'd either hurt myself or be embarrassed by my difficulty
with movement related to problems with my knees....Although I am challenged by some poses...you are very adaptive and open
in your approaches to teaching yoga....I also enjoy your motivational and spiritual messages that are a part of the class.
I feel that I stand taller and feel better about myself when I leave the class....It's been great coming to the class.
I feel that you are non-judgemental and willing to help us grow in many ways...." S.C., R.N.
"..I
highly recommend taking yoga from Meg and Francine. It is a wonderful melding of spirit and body. I feel
like rubber when I leave the class. I know my muscles have been gently stretched & massaged, joints lubricated, facial
muscles relaxed, stress released. I look forward to every class because I know I will leave feeling better
than when I arrived. My posture & disposition have improved 100%. And the tea & fruit afterwards
is the perfect finishing touch!...." - Arlene M.
"...Each Sunday morning, after my Yoga
class, I feel happy, full of energy and at the same time very relaxed. My whole body gets rid of all the constraints and wrinkles
accumulated during the week and even better, my brain feels fresh and out of the cloud of worries and anxieties....I feel
very lucky being under the guidance of Meg Barber. She is a very knowledgeable Yoga teacher, but even more she is a scholar.
Above all she is so gentle, calm and patient. I love seeing her every week...Because I am a neuroscientist,
I believe that the focus and concentration of the mind that is required to make the Yoga poses constitutes a very important
mental training to achieve an emotional balance and maintain a good level of awareness. It is also an excellent
way to keep clarity of mind as we age. I bring my daughter (she is 8 years old) to Yoga class.
Everybody helps! This is a great class!..." -Lucia Simo, M.D., Ph.D.
